The public theology of the iconography of white evangelicalism

Since the election of Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential election, I have been disappointed and disgusted by the fact that 80% of white evangelicals in the United States overwhelmingly voted for racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia, exceptionalism, isolationism, etc. What outrages and appalls me even more is that the same 80% of white evangelicals voted for him in the 2020 election. How could this be possible considering everything he has done and said for four years? Well I am very interested in the cult of white evangelicalism and its power over people.

Below is the link to a Vimeo video I created which shows images and video that has an accompanying music track titled “Symbols and Signs” by Beautiful Eulogy. I have bee listening to this song for several years and it has never been more apparent to me that white evangelicalism has provided safe haven for the oppressor and all the accompanying ideologies, especially that of white supremacy. The idea that white evangelicalism in the United States could serve as the moral compass for society is a myth of epic proportions. The lack of the understanding of the Gospel and its charge has become apparent as I have been in interactions with white evangelicals.
